Health care risk professionals often serve as the steady hand during times of crisis—but what happens when the emotional toll affects them? "Interrupting Third Victim Syndrome: Reassure the Reassurer" explores the concept of Third Victim Syndrome, its symptoms, and the impact it can have on those who investigate and support others after adverse events. This session will provide practical self-care strategies and resilience-building tools to help restore psychological safety and well-being for those who are often the last to be reassured.

Speaker:

Jenelle Arnao, DHS, MS, CPHRM, is a certified risk management professional with 15 years of hospital-based risk management experience. She joined the Coverys Risk Management & Analytics team in 2020. She is currently a senior risk consultant, nimbly sharing her expertise and experiences with health care professionals to maintain high-level client servicing. Her passion is to explore the furtherance of risk reduction and patient safety at the community, regional, and national levels. Jenelle earned her Doctorate in Human Services by designing a training program to help leadership identify and mitigate employee burnout. Jenelle is a faculty member of ASHRM, a member of AHRMNY and SHCRM-NJ.
