This program highlights the partnership between Novant Health and UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine in Southeastern North Carolina. We’ll share how collaborative strategies expanded access to care, strengthened regional research infrastructure, and shaped our mission to improve health for everyone who lives, works, and plays in the region

Objectives:

1. Describe how an affiliation between a large community healthcare system and an academic institution has leveraged collaboration to advance care in Southeastern North Carolina.

2. Discuss key strategies utilized by the Health Access Research Advisory Committee (HARAC) to build health access research in Southeastern North Carolina.

3. Describe the significance of access to research for healthcare quality.

4. Describe key success and barriers to the development of collaborative, community-engaged health access research in Southeastern North Carolina.


Presenter: Kiran McCloskey, PhD

Dr. Martin has served as a dynamic healthcare leader within the Wake Forest Market and across the Advocate Health enterprise. From 2014 to 2024, he held the role of Executive Director of Critical Care Services, where he guided strategic and clinical operations to advance patient outcomes and enhance system performance. During this time, he also chaired the Wake Forest Market Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee from 2018 to 2024, leading multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, evidence-based medication practices. In 2024, Dr. Martin expanded his leadership to the enterprise level as Chair of the Advocate Health Pharmacy Therapeutic Value Analysis Committee and assumed responsibility as the Market Value Analysis Leader for Surgical Services at Wake Forest Market. Most recently, in 2025, he was appointed Medical Director of Ambulatory Operations for the Department of General Surgery, where he continues to drive innovation, operational excellence, and value-based care across the continuum.

Registration with TGCAHQ will give you the registration link for NCAHQ.  You MUST complete the whole process by registering directly with our collaborative partner, who will collect the fees (if applicable) and send you the actual link for the event. (Save it to your calendar!) Do this 2nd step immediately, as some events have set limits and fill up.  Yes...it may seem like a "bit extra" but each association has it's own platform and registration process, so it is the best we have come up with so our members can have great access to amazing quality educational materials.
